There is something particularly lovely about the tradition of hanging a wreath on our doors during the darkest days of the year. It's a simple gesture, but one with a history that reaches back centuries, long before Christmas was celebrated as we know it today.
Ancient cultures used evergreens to mark the winter solstice, bringing branches of pine, fir, and holly into their homes as reminders that life persists, even in the coldest and darkest season. The circular shape of the wreath, without beginning or end, came to symbolize eternity, the cycles of nature, and the promise of renewal. Over time, these traditions became woven into Christian celebrations, where the wreath took on additional meanings of hope, faith, and everlasting life.
What I love most about wreaths is how closely they connect us to the natural world. There is something deeply instinctive about gathering fragrant evergreens, berries, branches, and other bits of the season and creating something beautiful from what nature offers.
A wreath is more than a holiday decoration. It's a celebration of the changing seasons, a gesture of welcome, and a reminder that even in winter, there is beauty and life all around us. Perhaps that's why, after all these centuries, we still feel compelled to hang one on our doors.
This order is for one beautiful, lush handmade evergreen wreath filled with materials both foraged and grown right here on the farm!
Each wreath is unique and one-of-a-kind. Upon checkout, you will choose a color family (neutrals, just greens, reds and whites, rainbow, or “surprise me!”), and decide whether you’d like a beautiful silk velvet ribbon or the freedom to add your own.
*Each wreath is made on a 10” frame, but fills out to approximately 14”-16” when completed.
